Resumen

Hebrews 6:19-20 is an enigmatic text that has raised sorne issues among scholars. In the task to interpret it they arrive at three conclusions: (1) the author of Hebrews is talking about the sanctuary in a general sense. Therefore, his focus is not related to any department (holy or most holy). Instead, he wants to emphasize the sanctuary as a whole. (2) The author is referring to the most holy place, which means that he is dealing with the Day of Atonement. Finally (3) the writer of Hebrews is not talking about the Day of Atonement; but instead, he presents the inauguration of J esus' ministry in the heavenly sanctuary and therefore, the end of the sacrifice system. This essay uses the sanctuary visions in the book of Revelation (Rev 8:3-5; 11:18, 19; 15:8) comparing them with both Heb 6:19-20 and 9:4, to discover if the book of Revelation can clarify this problem. The conclusion of this task is that Heb 6:19-20; 9:4 in its association with Revelation display a new phase in Jesus' ministry where he died for the sinners and by virtue of his sacrifice he was appointed as a high priest, therefore, as the forerunner who penetrates the veil he opens the access to God to everyone. Therefore, Heb 6:19-20; 9:4 associated with Revelation do not present the notion of Atonement.
